ℹ️ Context
- To best support you, we need to face the tough conversations around underperformance and tackle these situations head on with a clear and supportive plan.
- Remember, we hired you for a reason.
- It's rare for someone to underperform on purpose. It's usually the case that there's a misalignment in expectations, skills etc, and you might need training, resources or other support to re-align these areas and get back to doing what you do best. 🚀
🤖 That's where a Back on Track [BOT] plan comes in…
Back On Track (or BOT for short) is a way of setting clear, measurable goals and outlining the support offered to give you the best chance possible to get back on track.
- It's important to note, both sides should engage in a BOT plan when there’s genuine confidence there’s a good chance of successfully achieving the goals set.
- It’s not a "checkbox" exercise, and if a performance gap is simply that big, (and the decision has already been made to part ways), then an honest conversation needs to happen.
- Some examples of where a BOT plan may be needed…
💡 Tips to creating a great BOT Plan
- Don’t over-flood the plan with goals. Just like OKRs, 2-3 are the sweet spot.
- Key results should describe what great looks like when it’s been achieved.
- The page should be interactive - use it to track advice, progress and actions.
Help! I don't know where to start 🤯
- Not a problem - you're not expected to tackle this alone!
