Why feedback is important
- Feedback helps us grow.
We learn through feedback
- Feedback shows we care.
It shows we want others to become their best selves, builds trust and psychological safety, helps identify miscommunication or misunderstandings.
- Silence can be costly.
We stagnate and stop improving. Frustration and resentment builds.
Not getting clear about expectations because it feels too hard, yet holding them accountable for not delivering, is unfair.
Giving constructive feedback

A couple of useful questions
... to ask yourself before giving feedback:
- What is my intention behind giving this feedback?
- Can I enter the conversation with a mindset of curiosity?
- Am I feeling any of the HALT feelings (hungry, angry, lonely, tired)?
- What is my relationship like with the person I am delivering it to?
- Do I know how this person prefers to receive feedback?
