A note on this page: IDEA efforts are a life's work and will never be 'over.' This means we will all have many things to learn during our lifetimes, and during our time at Whereby. Each of us will make mistakes, use not-100% inclusive language, or refer to ways of thinking which may not have progressed as far as others. We ask that we presume best intent in all of our colleagues, and enter into all DEI conversations with the fundamental hope to work together on building a better world, and the presumption that each of us commits to a culture of inclusivity and belonging.
We fundamentally believe talent is distributed to all of us in equal measure. We open our doors (physical or URL) to everyone and we see our differences as a strength; it’s this philosophy that drives us towards our mission.
This means we see your unique history as having value money cannot buy; we believe in the strength of every intersection of race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, different physical ability, family structure, socio-economics, age, nationality or citizenship, sex, marital, domestic or civil partnership status, sexual orientation, gender identity.
We also believe that remote working is one of the biggest levers for IDEA available to us and at the moment we are not exercising this fully - we are working to correct this and implement actionable, measurable programmes around DEI to improve Whereby's representation.

<aside> 📢 Our approach is based upon the understanding that people’s experiences are complex, drawing upon intersectionality.

We believe that businesses can be powerful platforms for social change and that our higher purpose is to enable everyone to live from where they thrive: a mission which is tied to the fundamental building blocks of an inclusive and equal world.
Across human history, a large number of specific groups of people have been underrepresented in the workplace.
Still, today, people from these groups are prejudiced and underrepresented in employment - something we believe is unacceptable.
Improving diversity means improving the statistics of representation, but the work isn't done there.
If equality is giving everyone the same, equity is giving people what they need to have the same experiences.
It means we are committed to building custom tools and support for those who need it to achieve their goals; this may mean that neuro-diverse members of our team are offered an alternative way to give and receive feedback, it may mean that the carers in our team are offered a way to record and re-watch Company All-hands so that they aren't forced to pick between their family and their work.
Whatever the differences, Whereby are committed to offering a way to help all of our team - from all intersections and walks of life - be successful here.
