PURPOSE & SCOPE

Linearity is fully committed to enabling flexible work practices for its team members. Linearity aspires to be a remote-friendly company, offering an inspiring workplace for employees that want to work from the office as well as for employees that work remotely outside of our Berlin HQ. This means enabling all of Linearity’s employees to work remotely. No matter if they want to work from the beach, a remote mountain retreat or the moon - We support it. Our policy gives guidance on how to make that happen. It gives every team member the opportunity to create their own perfect working environment and get work done in any situation. To Linearity it is more than just a policy: it is about a change in how we think about work, where work is not anchored to one place and time and instead is focused on outcomes. In other terms: It is about making an impact, less about effort. Linearity will continue to evolve this document as experience with it grows, to continually upgrade and optimize it.

OFFICE SPACE

Our office space is limited and we have secured a number of hot desks that are available for office visits. In case you travel to Berlin to work from the HQ, make sure to check with the People team for availability.

POLICIES & WORKING HOURS

Linearity company policies and guidelines apply to all employees, regardless of location. Additionally, statutory work regulations apply to both office-based and remote work. This means keeping the same core working guidelines, regardless of working in the office or remotely.

WORKATION

In case of working from abroad for more than 2 weeks, the People team and direct manager must be informed at least 14 days in advance. As a general rule, it is not possible to permanently work from a country other than the country that employs you. You are allowed to work in a foreign country for a period of up to 3 months. Only with exceptions it is possible to extend it to 6 months (family reasons, political conflicts, etc.)

In principle, Linearity works according to the German time zone (CET). It is permitted that employees work from other time zones, however, each employee must bear the responsibility that deadlines are met, the workload is managed and that they are reachable and available during Berlin working hours (10:00am - 4:00pm). If employees work from a country with ****a different time zone, it’s expected to ensure that you attend the team and company meetings. It is not accepted that obligatory meetings (1:1, team meetings, stand-ups, company calls etc) are cancelled or get rescheduled.In the case of a bad internet connection, lack of availability, weak work performance or similar, Linearity reserves the right to terminate the workation prematurely.

Please also keep in mind to verify that your foreign remote working plans do not result in any adverse consequences, violations of your applicable residence or visa permits in your employment country (if any). Linearity does not accept any responsibility for any such consequences and will not be able to support you on any disputes with authorities regarding your intended foreign remote working schedule.

If a Company retreat, or an in-person event falls within the period of a workation, the employee is required to attend and interrupt/end their workation. Travel expenses will only be reimbursed if the expenses are less than or equal to the cost of travel from the country of employment to the event location.

In case the technical equipment (Mac, Ipad, pencil) is broken during the workation, please contact your manager and the People team asap. The first step is to check whether the laptop can be repaired. If not, a replacement device must be purchased with the Finway card. Linearity will only cover the amount of the purchase costs that we would pay in Germany. If the local purchase price is higher, the difference has to be paid by the employee. If the device is shipped from Linearity to the employee, customs and shipping must be paid by the employee.

PERFORMANCE & COMMUNICATION

Employees ensure to continue working in a productive way and uphold Linearity’s high quality standards. Performance will be measured by the same standards for office and remote work. Employees are responsible for keeping their managers and team informed about the status of their work.
